CR05 Bluetooth Interface

Overview

The CR05 connects a Keilton+autani zone to the Autani Manager. With the CR05, the Manager and EnergyCenter can see and control the lights you commissioned in the app.

The CR05 does not work alone. It needs an Autani Manager and an RTR. The CR05 plugs into the RTR with a CAT5e cable, and the RTR connects to the Manager.

Use this page to add a CR05 to a zone and to read its indicator lights during installation.

Key Facts

Item Detail
CR05s per zone One. A zone can have only one CR05.
Zone size Up to 100 nodes per CR05
Placement Put the CR05 near the center of the zone. Keep the zone's devices within a 100 ft radius of it.
Mesh hops The zone should not be more than 4 hops across the wireless mesh.
CR05s per RTR Up to 5
Power DC 12-24 V, supplied over the cable from the RTR
Cable CAT5e or better, all 8 conductors wired straight through
Mounting Do not mount the CR05 on or near metal beams, ducts or other metal. Metal weakens the signal.

RJ45 does not mean Ethernet

The CR05 and RTR use RJ45 connectors and CAT5e cable, but the connection is not Ethernet and does not use PoE. A network cable tester will not tell you whether a CR05 is communicating. Use it only to confirm that all 8 conductors are wired straight through.

For mounting, wiring and cable-length limits, follow the installation documents listed in Related Articles.

Adding a CR05 to a Zone

Add a CR05 after the Manager, RTR and CR05 are installed and powered on. You can commission the lights before or after the CR05 is installed.

  1. Open the zone in the app.
  2. Go to Discover and tap Devices.
  3. Tap +. The app searches for nearby devices.
  4. If the CR05 does not appear within 2 minutes, press the CR05's reset button with a paper clip.
  5. If more than one CR05 appears, tap one to flash its blue light. This shows you which CR05 on the ceiling or wall you selected.
  6. Select the correct CR05 and tap Add.

Repeat for each zone. Every zone that the Manager controls needs its own CR05.

Indicator Lights

The CR05 has three indicator lights: blue, green and red.

Blue

What you see What it means
5 slow blinks (one every 4 seconds) after power-on Startup. The CR05 has power.
3 fast blinks (5 per second) The CR05 received a wireless signal.

Green

What you see What it means
Solid green The reset button is pressed and held.
Green goes off The reset button was released.
Blinking green The CR05 received a positioning command from the Manager. This happens only when the connections between the Manager, the RTR and the CR05 are working.

Red

What you see What it means
Solid red Low power. The input voltage is below 11.5 V.
Red goes off Power is back to normal. The input voltage is 12 V or higher.
Blinking red Handshake failure. The CR05 has power but has not connected to the Manager.

Blinking red does not prove a bad connection

With the current firmware, blinking red is not a reliable sign of a bad cable or a lost connection. A CR05 can blink red even when its wiring and data connection are fine. Do not replace a CR05 or re-terminate its cable because of blinking red alone.

Checking a CR05 in the Field

Use this check after you connect a CR05 to its RTR.

  1. Watch for the blue startup blinks. Five slow blue blinks after power-on mean the CR05 has power. If you see no blue blinks, check the cable and the RTR's power first.
  2. Wait about 30 seconds. If the CR05 does not start blinking red, power and data are most likely good.
  3. If it blinks red, see the warning above. Check that the cable has all 8 conductors wired straight through, then contact Autani Support. See Support & Contact.

Solid red is different

Solid red means low voltage, not a connection problem. Check the RTR's power supply and the cable run.
